Kouganzama Kiln is a working Mino-ware kiln in Toki City, Gifu prefecture — the heart of Japan's largest pottery tradition. The bowl is built around the proportions of a working matcha chawan: wide enough at the rim for a tea whisk (chasen) to move freely, deep enough to hold the matcha and water without overflowing, and weighted to sit stably between the palms.

Each bowl is hand-finished, so natural variations in glaze colour and texture are part of the work — a hallmark of wabi-sabi aesthetics in tea ceramics.
