A small Arita-ware porcelain dish that doubles as a soy-sauce dish and chopstick rest — inspired by the suzuri inkstone form, decorated with cherry blossoms.

Nanpu is an Arita-based ceramics manufacturer in Saga prefecture (Kyushu). The dish takes its shape from the suzuri, the traditional Japanese ink-grinding stone used in calligraphy: a hollowed-out centre for the liquid and a small lip at the top. Here, the hollow holds soy sauce or ponzu, while the small lip notch sits perfectly under a pair of chopsticks between bites.
