The dobin (土瓶) is one of Japan's traditional teapot forms — a side-handled pot designed for sharing tea with guests. The dragonfly is a recurring motif in Japanese ceramics and textiles: a symbol of summer, of straightforwardness (the dragonfly flies only forward, never back) and of perseverance through change. Painted here in deep cobalt on a soft ground glaze.
