A small Kutani-ware porcelain plate from HAREKUTANI — a modern Kutani brand from Nomi City, Ishikawa — featuring the Daruma motif, the Japanese symbol of perseverance and good fortune.

HAREKUTANI is produced by Toujudo Kiln (北野陶寿堂), a long-established Kutani kiln in Nomi City, Ishikawa prefecture. The brand was launched to bring Kutani porcelain into contemporary Japanese homes: brighter palette, more playful motifs, but still painted by hand in the traditional Kutani overglaze technique.

The Daruma is a round, weighted figure based on the Zen monk Bodhidharma — a Japanese symbol of resilience. Available as a single piece or as a set of two.
