Hasami Ware Rice Bowl – Mt. Fuji Shape (Fujiwan)

A Hasami-ware rice bowl whose silhouette echoes Mount Fuji turned upside down — a clean, tapered shape that sits comfortably in the hand, hand-carved with a colourful chatter-mark finish.

Hasami ware is made in the town of Hasami in Nagasaki prefecture, a pottery district with roughly 400 years of history. The bowl's surface is worked with tobikanna — a "flying plane" technique in which a springy blade is skipped across the spinning clay to cut a rhythm of fine chatter marks. The result is a tactile, lively pattern under a warm colour glaze. Available in red or blue.
