150g of Japanese loose-leaf ryokucha green tea from Ito En, packed in Japan — a fresh, grassy everyday sencha for hot brew or cold steep.

Ito En is Japan's largest green tea producer (founded 1966 in Tokyo). Ryokucha (緑茶) simply means "green tea" in Japanese — it's the everyday sencha-style leaf tea that fills Japanese pantries. Loose-leaf gives a fuller flavour and aroma than tea bags, and stretches further per gram.

How to brew

  • Hot: 2g of leaves in 200ml of 70–80°C water, steep 30–60 seconds. Don't use boiling water — it scalds green tea.
  • Cold: 5g of leaves in 500ml cold water in the fridge for 2–3 hours; strain.
