Kokuyo (コクヨ) is one of Japan's oldest and largest stationery makers, founded in Osaka in 1905. The Harinacs (ハリナックス, from "hari nashi" — "no needle") line is the company's elegant answer to a small office problem: metal staples can't go into the paper recycling stream without being separated out first. Harinacs solves it by punching, folding and threading a small tab of the paper itself to hold the pages together.
