A palm-sized Kutani-ware mamesara (豆皿 — "soybean plate") by Soukyu Kiln — a charming small dish in two designs: Mt. Fuji or Rabbit.
Soukyu Kiln (蒼久窯) is a Kutani ware kiln in Nomi City, Ishikawa prefecture. The mamesara is a Japanese tradition of very small plates — named after the soybean for their compact size — used for soy sauce, condiments, sweets, or as a chopstick rest at the side of the place setting. They turn an ordinary meal into something more considered.
Handmade in Ishikawa, Japan.
