A hand-painted Kutani-ware decorative vase with stand — painted with the Tsurugidate mountain range and cranes in flight, by Toujudo Kiln. Comes in a wooden gift box.
Kutani porcelain has been made in Ishikawa prefecture for 360 years. Toujudo Kiln (陶寿堂) is a working Kutani kiln in Nomi City, the centre of the tradition. The vase shows the Tsurugidate range — the mountains north of Kanazawa — with cranes (tsuru, a symbol of longevity and good fortune) in flight above them, painted in subtle navy, green and gold using Kutani's classic five-colour overglaze palette.
