A hand-painted Kutani-ware decorative vase with stand — painted with the Tsurugidate mountain range and cranes in flight, by Toujudo Kiln. Comes in a wooden gift box.

Kutani porcelain has been made in Ishikawa prefecture for 360 years. Toujudo Kiln (陶寿堂) is a working Kutani kiln in Nomi City, the centre of the tradition. The vase shows the Tsurugidate range — the mountains north of Kanazawa — with cranes (tsuru, a symbol of longevity and good fortune) in flight above them, painted in subtle navy, green and gold using Kutani's classic five-colour overglaze palette.

What's good about it

  • Hand-painted Tsurugidate mountain landscape with cranes
  • Kutani five-colour overglaze (red, green, yellow, purple, blue) with gold detail
  • Approx. 22cm diameter × 21.5cm height
  • Comes with matching stand and traditional wooden gift box
  • Works as a vase or as a standalone decorative object
  • By Toujudo Kiln, Nomi City, Ishikawa prefecture
