A 27.5cm Japanese ceramic dinner plate carrying Hokusai's The Great Wave off Kanagawa — generous size, deep indigo on a softly textured surface.
Hokusai's woodblock print was published around 1831 as part of the Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji. This dinner-plate-scale interpretation gives the wave room to dominate without crowding food: deep indigo tones, the boats and Mt. Fuji small and clear in the composition, on a slightly textured ceramic surface that's an everyday plate first.
