Uni Kuru Toga Standard Mechanical Pencil 0.5mm – Self-Sharpening Rotating Lead

The mechanical pencil that sharpens itself as you write. Uni's Kuru Toga Standard houses the original Kuru Toga engine — a tiny ratchet mechanism that rotates the lead a fraction of a turn with every stroke, so the tip wears evenly into a cone instead of a flat chisel edge.

Mitsubishi Pencil Co. (Tokyo, est. 1887) spent years studying why pencil lines get thicker and messier as you write — the lead wears down on one side. The Kuru Toga engine was their answer, and it changed Japanese pencil design: three internal gears twist the lead about 9° each time you lift the pencil off the page. Lines stay fine, notes stay crisp, and the lead is far less likely to snap.
